guardaba cientos de horas de grabación de video. Llevaba más o menos siete años construyendo pequeñas piezas audiovisuales con técnicas experimentales de montaje, etalonaje o diseño sonoro. Por desgracia, sólo conservé algunos&nbsp;fotogramas de las obras, archivados en paralelo en una carpeta de Google Drive. Ahora bien, ¿cómo eran aquellos videos? Cuando grababa, ninguna de las personas que aparecía posaba ante la cámara, sino que captaba en la distancia una escena en la que yo siempre pasaba desapercibido. Lo que ocurría cerca de mí era irrelevante; sólo aquello que estuviera en la lejanía se me mostraba como valioso: la imagen comenzaba a desenfocarse y el grano a vibrar; los encuadres adquirían una composición más atractiva a riesgo –consciente, por otro lado– de su paulatina indefinición; miraba sin que me vieran. Fui el detective que creó su propio crimen que resolver. Estas imágenes son el único testimonio de una gran pérdida personal -en esencia, perder el trabajo, el tiempo y la memoria-. Todo lo demás ha desaparecido para siempre de este mundo. Proyectos | Galería Rafael Ortiz © Fotografías: Pedro Agustín Entre 1962 y 1973, el matrimonio formado por Felipe de Osma-Goitia (1929-1988) y Victoria Burnaby (1942-2003) quiso recuperar del abandono el Castillo de Gormaz —la enorme fortaleza andalusí ubicada en la provincia de Soria— para albergar en su interior un espacio de experimentación artística. En el marco de la descomposición de la dictadura franquista, y ante la oleada de cambios políticos, sociales y económicos que se estaban sucediendo en España, Osma-Goitia y Burnaby plantearon una visión del arte que fuera más allá del objeto de coleccionismo, el ocio y la instrumentación política. Ambos vieron en el Castillo de Gormaz una suerte de jardín epicúreo, un entorno en el que poder desarrollar un modelo alternativo en el que la cultura, en su sentido más amplio, no estuviera cercada por el dominio de las lógicas institucionales. En esta fortaleza los sentidos se entregarían a las impurezas y rugosidades de un arte que no distinguiría entre estilos, corrientes, disciplinas, saberes o géneros. Tras el rechazo o la incomprensión de las entidades a las que presentaron su propuesta de financiación, Osma-Goitia y Burnaby abandonaron a finales de 1973 la realización de su proyecto, Rawda al-Ghalib («El Jardín de lo que Prevalece»). A pesar de la imposibilidad de una reconstrucción completa, esta exposición parte de sus esquemas, bocetos y documentos originales, materializados aquí como dibujos arquitectónicos, símbolos totémicos, molduras, frontispicios, cartelería o esculturas engendradas a partir de su correspondencia inicial con Remedios Varo. Esta exposición supone no sólo un reconocimiento a un trabajo quizá demasiado radical o visionario para su época, sino el ofrecimiento de una línea narrativa que habría configurado de forma distinta nuestro imaginario artístico español. Felipe de Osma-Goitia y Victoria Burnaby se trasladaron en 1975 a Ibiza, donde residieron hasta su fallecimiento. historiadores del arte, el collage no fue inventado por Braque, Gris o Höch, sino por dos hermanos cirujanos, Cosme y Damián, que obraron el milagro que les hizo santos: trasplantaron la pierna de su ayudante etíope recién fallecido a un sacristán blanco que sufría de gangrena. Así, el paciente volvió a andar de nuevo con otra piel, bajo otra forma. El milagro de San Cosme y San Damián nos transmite, lejos de las lecturas superficiales de nuestra época, que la representación permite cohesionar e integrar todo aquello que en la vida resulta contradictorio o antitético; el verdadero poder de la ficción, o del arte, es hacernos creer que hay alternativas a nuestros esquemas convencionales; la mayor de las operaciones metafóricas es la de unir lo que siempre ha estado separado. En esta sala puede que se perciba un orden, una secuencia en dos actos, una manifestación de obras de gran formato que dependen de momentos muy específicos de la vida de Luis Cruz Hernández, pero es preciso distinguir que, dentro del exuberante jardín que conforma su trabajo, aquí lo abstracto o figurativo son categorías cómodas para quienes prefieren cartografiar los hechos antes que abrirse a la experiencia: el color, la forma, lo lúdico y lo irónico no responden a líneas narrativas, ni discursivas, sino a pulsiones y sismografías de la materia sin significado, asémica y enigmática. Si decimos que en la escritura no hay contenido sin forma, en la pintura, o al menos en la de Cruz Hernández, no hay un contenido claro, sino resonancias poéticas, códigos contradictorios o giros que desmitifican lo que se supone que debe hacer un artista para ser identificado. al influjo afectivo del cine, lo cual es siempre una actitud distintiva de quien respeta el valor de su adversario. A la apresurada inflación icónica de nuestro tiempo, Cruz responde atenuando el soporte, ralentizando la narcosis y rescatando imágenes de un acervo ya existente –siendo esto último algo común en su práctica–. Me parece una manera astuta, quizá la única, de recuperar cierto sosiego y algo de tiempo frente a la promiscuidad de la significación. También es una forma humilde de ejercer la crítica sin recurrir a la pomposidad vacía a la que estamos acostumbrados.
